About

New Plymouth Old Boys’ Rugby Club was founded in 1919 with headquarters at Vogeltown Park consisting of 3 floodlit grounds, changing rooms and club house.

NPOB rugby has a proud tradition of nearly 100 years of outstanding service and commitment to the sporting and social culture of New Plymouth, Taranaki and beyond. This record highlights many Taranaki, senior and junior championships , numerous trophies as the top Taranaki club and a huge contribution to the provincial and national selections. The club is quick to recognise that this success is due to the passion and dedication of legions of club officials, coaches, managers, players and the community over the years. Because of our love of the game we have a desire to ensure that we can meet the needs of a large number of people from the little tackers to those who should be hanging up their boots—this is never easy but we enjoy the challenge.

We are fortunate to have 50 honorary members (volunteers) and a large following of loyal supporters and sponsors who firmly believe that society is a much more vibrant and inclusive place to live because of their dedication and belief in NPOB rugby. They are correct in this belief and see the rewards on the faces of young and not so young each week.
